High-quality fabric and handle connections, doesn't look like they'll break down for a long time. All of the strap clips and zipper pulls are metallic, and it has four external pockets - two zippered ones on the front, and a zippered one plus a velcro-held slot behind it on the back. It's wide enough that it fits my giant 17" Asus laptop easily, without me having to finagle it into the bag (my laptop is a little over 16" wide, and 10-3/4" long). The laptop pocket has a stretchy velcro strap to hold it more snugly in place, as well as three pockets that can easily fit a gigantic AC adapter and a mouse. The other side has a divider, and is perfect for holding papers; it zips down halfway on each side you you can open it wide to access things. I've even fit two hard-bound lab notebooks and a 1-in binder inside that pocket, all at the same time. It holds quite a lot.

I don't remember when I originally rated this, but I'm holding at 5 stars. I bought this bag 4 years ago and I'm honestly only looking to replace it now as a matter of vanity. The zipper on the very back, on the part that functions as a thick strap to fit over the handle of rolling luggage, is broken basically beyond repair. It was workable for a while, but it's dead. Otherwise the rest of the bag is FINE, literally like new, after 4 years of daily use at work, 5 days a week.
This bag is surprisingly massive for being so compact. Each of the gussets has an inner fold that allows it to expand to accommodate the weirder items you might want to cram into it. I originally picked this one to accommodate the full width of a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard in the laptop pocket, which it carried like a champ. After moving from tech support to development, the same pocket fits my Macbook Pro perfectly, along with pockets for my charger, any other wires I may need to carry, an insulated stainless mug, a 7 day pill sorter, some flash drives, a pocket knife, a small medicine cabinet, multiple packs of sanitary wipes, the folder containing all of my divorce paperwork, a couple small notebooks and some pens, a Nintendo Switch, and whatever breakfast and lunch I packed for the day. With all that inside, I could still fit a bunch of stuff comfortably into it.
At home, the bag is just the right height to fit into one of the square shelves of an IKEA Expedit or Kallax storage unit. In my car, it's just the right size to fit behind the driver's seat in the floorboard. In general, I stay busy and I'm constantly doing something. This bag has been just the right size for my whole crazy life.

I'm the Executive Chef of a busy hospital so I lug around lots of files, forms, meeting notes and a laptop along with all the necessities like ibuprofen and Aleve. This bag has been abused on a daily basis for almost a full year now. It gets thrown in the trunk after along day, banged around during long travels and lives under my desk getting knocked around as well. Despite this rough life for one solid year, everything looks and works like it did when I bought it.
There is a lot of space and many pockets which is hard must for me when buying a bag. I am able to separate things out to make them easier to find with all the ample space and the shoulder strap and handles all are well built and work great. Trust me when I say this, you will NOT be as rough as I am with this bag and it is worth every cent I paid for this. I can't recommend it enough!

I bought this bag in April of 2016 and am finally reviewing it in July 2020. I think that's enough time to give it a fair review!!!
I have used this bag almost daily for the past 4+ years. It has endured over 100 flights in overhead storage, under seat storage and probably several on lap storage. I cannot speak highly enough about it. The bag itself is still in great shape. The handles are only now starting to show wear which is why I came back to see of the bag was still available. It is, but I bought it for $45 and now it's around $70.
It has just enough room, but not too much space that you overload your bag which then pulls your hand off when you are carrying it through an airport. The interior is still in great condition and nothing has torn or worn out. The zippers are good. It offers great padding for my Microsoft Surface Pro and has plenty of space and compartments for batteries, chargers, cables, etc. The attachment that attaches the bag to a roller bag is a bit stretched out, but I'm not exactly gentle on my bags.
If I was to have one complaint, it would be about the shoulder strap. Honestly, it is not the most comfortable strap. But if you are wearing it across the chest, instead of on one shoulder, then it's fine.
I would definitely recommend.

I needed new bag for my new 17" laptop. I wanted something nice yet durable but at reasonable cost. There are many nice and durable bags but the cost is never reasonable. To get reasonable you have to settle for plain looking or cheap quality. However, if you shop for Amazon used items, you can find great items at very reasonable prices. Especially the ones marked Used-Like New. My son worked as manager at Amazon warehouse. He told me about the Like New items. He said the package maybe damaged or torn so they can't send them out to customers. But the item itself is brand new and undamaged. Okay, I tried it and it's true! I have purchased shoes, tools, and even Samsung Galaxy S-9+.
I got this Samsonite bag at half-price. Brand new with all tags and in plastic wrapping. Very nice bag at very good price. My Asus 17" fits nice and secure with room for power cord, mouse and extra items. It's good looking and Samsonite brand. I'm very pleased with purchase.

I have been using this bag for almost a year as a general-purpose briefcase carrying mostly books and papers, but not a laptop. I bought this one because of the good reviews and the fact that it has "gussets": the webbing that keeps the bag from opening up in half. I have had bags without the gussets and too often the zipper would not hold, the bag would open, and all the contents would spill on the ground. This bag has gussets on all the compartments EXCEPT the middle one. As such, I usually keep the middle compartment completely zipped closed.
I use this bag nearly every day and it has proven to be durable. The material is fairly easy to clean and the zippers have not yet broken or become jammed.
A few minor design problems: the front, small pocket is very useful for keys and a wallet, but the carrying handle tends to fall into the smaller pocket interfering with the zipper. The shoulder strap can be length adjusted with the usual metal clip, but the strap material is too smooth and the clip tends to slip, so keeping the strap length set is difficult. An easy fix for this would be to use a metal clip with more friction. Finally, they should make the middle compartment gussetted just like the other compartments.
Another problem that came up only after several months of use is shown in the attached picture. The zipper tab is small enough to get wedged in the strap clip making it impossible to zip or unzip on that side. The zipper tab can be disengaged only after significant effort. A very simple fix for this would be to use a slightly larger zipper tab.
However, these quibbles aside, a durable and reliable bag that I would buy again.

The product looks good and durable. At the same time, it falls short in several areas, particularly if you consider the price. One of the biggest drawbacks is that the Velcro strap is only able to securely hold a very large laptop. It awkwardly hangs there (with lots of slack) with small and medium sized laptops, which does not help with holding the laptop securely in place. The band that attaches to the Velcro could be much shorter in length (particularly since it's elastic) and/or it could have been made adjustable by the manufacturer. Another drawback is that the large front pocket extends a relatively small amount, which can make comfortably placing and retrieving items difficult.

I've owned this bag for just over 3 years. For the majority of the time, this bag performed great - great capacity, multiple compartments made for easy organization, looked professional, and easily fit under plane seats. Got me through grad school and in my professional life.
At the 2.5 year mark is when the signs of wear started to show. As you can see in the pictures, the back zipper failed and the seams at the strap points started to come apart. For the amount I paid, this bag performed admirably and as expected.
I've switched to an oversized backpack for my professional life (more storage space and less strain on my shoulders), but I'll still keep this bag around to use as my "personal item" when flying as it is tucks under the seat really well.

There are quite a bit of pockets and areas to place papers, chargers, etc. It is pretty large, but it definitely does the job. I don't use it nearly as often as I would like, but I don't tote my laptop around nearly as much as I did when I purchased this. It is high quality and durable. It has weathered my rough usage for quite some time like a champ! I was afraid of it being uncomfortable as I hauled it around, but it isn't that bad. The strap has a pad on it for a more cushioned hold on your shoulder. It doesn't work as well when there is a lot of stuff inside the bag because the strap can kind of fold in on itself and put more strain on the middle of the cushion so that it slightly cuts into the shoulder. Regardless, for my purposes, I've had nothing but good experiences. I just make sure to not carry as much inside the bag.

I purchased this Samsonite computer bag a year ago because it was one of the few options that could accommodate my large 17" laptop (HP Pavilion g7). Over the past year, I have used it hard, and it has served me well. The laptop fits snugly, but it does fit. And I have appreciated the multiple pouches and slots where I can keep my compact Bible, daily planner, checkbook, pens, power cord, and even a book or two. I have occasionally packed the bag with multiple books and papers, surely beyond its intended load capacity, but the strap and metal buckles haven't yielded yet. On those occasions when I've wanted to carry a larger load, I wish the bag could accommodate the extra contents without bulging so much, but that's a minor complaint. And the one leather hand-hold on the handle is starting to come apart, so I'm interested to see if those completely disintegrate over time. If so, that would be frustrating. But, ultimately, this bag has served me well this year, despite my best effort to beat it into submission, and I hope to get a few more years out of it...

The computer fits securely in the case center section which is divided into two full size of the case areas, each with its own zipper. Both are padded - computer on one side, file section or accessories in the other (cords, cell phone, whatever) There is adequate padding on both sides. The accessories/files center section opens with a top and both sides zipper - a U zipper for easy access. There is even a file divider in this section. The computer section has a top zipper which also runs about an inch down each side before reaching reinforced stops. On the outside of the case, there are separate side pockets with zippers on both sides. It also has the sleeve open on both top and bottom to fit over a suitcase handle on one side. It's well made, great fabric - It's a Samsonite.
Based on construction and padding, I expect the computer protection for the new case to be identical to my old one (also a Samsonite) which survived airplane and motor home trips for about 10 years and still looks good inside and out.
So - it's four stars and not five, because the almost the same case I bought for my old 15.6 laptop, had the complete three sided U zipper for the computer section and I liked that a little better than this one. Maybe I should just get over it.

This bag has been great. It hasn't worn out after daily use with a 15" laptop (both a Dell and then afterwards switched to a Mac).
I dont deal with small items much,but it has ample room and slots or zippers to hold several everyday items you may need.
There is one large con to this bag that I've had to deal with early on which was the shoulder strap. I can't say this will happen with every bag they send out, but on several occasions I have put the strap over my shoulder only to have one of the clips slipped out of its slot and the bag falls to the floor. The clip itself seems to be the issue. The rest of the bag is still holding together very strong and I'd definitely suggest this to anyone looking for an everyday bag with need for some organization capability.

It looks well made, up until the velcro closure on the outside luggage holder came nearly completely off the first time I opened my bag to pack it up. The thread wasn't tied off with the stitches. I hope the rest of the bag was assembled with more care. Over all the look, the style and feel as as expected. I purchased it and haven't even had it outside yet, and I want to contact Samsonite about the product defect. I was excited about my new briefcase until I opened that velcro at the end of checking it out/loading it. It took very light effort on my half, and the thread unraveled.

This is a very nice bag, with some padding for where you place your laptop & the center area has some padding as well, there was not much padding on the bottom inside of the bag, but it was well built. It looked fairly durable & good quality. There is no way the new Asus Rog G752 will fit this carrier bag, thus the 4 star review. I believe this carrier bag would fit an average 17 inch laptop with perhaps a 12 inch height. The new Asus Rog G752 laptops, that came out at the end of 2015, are just too tall (13 inches height x 17 inch width) and the corners on all 4 ends are not rounded but squared off...so still looking for a laptop carrier :( I also tried the Kenneth Cole bag for the 18.5 laptop & it was too small for the Asus Rog G752, in case you were wondering.

I have been using this bag for over a year, and I have been pretty happy with it. It easily fits and protects a 15-inch laptop, and it has several other pockets for papers, laptop accessories, etc. It is very roomy and can hold quite a bit. The bag is not waterproof, which I found surprising, so I sprayed it with Scotchgard when I first received it. The 2 handles do not have a Velcro or button piece to attach them together, which would have been a nice addition. I carry some very heavy items in the bag, and the bag ripped near the point at which the strap attaches to the bag. It was relatively easy for a local repair place to fix it. Recently one of the zippers on the large middle pocket broke. It actually has 2 zippers on it, so I have been able to open and close the bag with the other zipper for the past couple of months.

I use this bag just as a briefcase going to and from work. I haven't used it for travel, yet, so I can't speak to its suitability for that.
The bag is very roomy--allowing me to assign certain work to certain pockets with ease. This is a great way to stay organized. The construction seems durable. I read criticism of the hooks for the straps breaking easily. I have had no such problem, and even gave them a "tug" to test their strength when I received it. From my perspective, there is no issue with the quality of the product for just running back and forth in the business world.

I really like this bag. I bought it to replace a bag I'd gotten from a trade show five years ago and had worn down significantly. I have a lot of bags for task-specific stuff, and am very picky about the bags I buy. So, for me, it was a gamble buying this without ever feeling it or being able to see what it looked like on the inside.
The build quality is excellent on this bag. The zippers are very well made and run smoothly. I haven't had a single hiccup with my zippers in over six months of daily usage.
Two critiques: It's a little heavy on its own, and with the amount it holds, can get quite cumbersome. The pouches inside big pockets are not always the most useful - they're meshy and zippered - and can catch on loose papers if you're putting them directly in the bag.

Functionally, it has all the necessary sections for a decent size laptop, large brick,mouse and other supplies (earphones, calculator, phone charger, etc). It has a fairly rigid structure (holds it shape) (unlike my leather one it replaces) so it stays upright while loading the laptop. It is lightweight and zippers have a light force (easy to zip up and down).
I usually have two concerns about these laptop cases: weak straps and zippers failing (separate). This strap attachment point looks like an exposure and the zippers are plastic (most are). The good news is the case does not look overly full when loaded (bulging) so the zippers do not appear stressed (pulled apart) so that is a good sign for zipper stress.

Very well constructed and professional looking bag. It holds my laptop, chargers, accessories, notebooks, and lots of other random stuff. There are lots of pockets and pouches to help organize your things as well. If you fill it up all the way, it can really get very awkward to carry since it tends to bulge quite a bit and tends to slide off of your shoulder.

This is a nice bag, but I feel like having so many gussets sort of gets in the way of actual storage space. This bag is good for carrying a computer plus pens, pencils, chargers, etc, as well as a three-ring binder and maybe one or two books. Any more than that and you will run into space and weight limitations.
I bought this as a bag for school and after using it for a year will probably go back to a backpack, and use this case just for work (which requires far less carrying of textbooks).

I have had this bag for 2 weeks and recently took it on a long business trip. It weighs a lot less than it looks, which is a good thing. It fits nicely under the airplane seats, even vertically on some planes. I also like how secure it feels when attached the handle of a suitcase. I like the multiple compartments, but I was hoping that at least one was expandable. On workdays, I usually have a laptop and lunchbag with me, and there really isn't enough room in the main compartment for both. My biggest negative is the shoulder strap. I may not have the broadest shoulders in the world, but this strap would not stay and kept slipping off my shoulder. I replaced it was one from an older bag of mine.

Love the size of the bag. My laptop is a bigger 17.3" and didn't quite fit into the padded laptop compartment pocket, but just fits in the middle of the compartment. I am able to fit in a 100 page spiral notebook and some file folders, as well as all of my other mobile junk in the other compartments. there are corners that might tear apart. that was really annoying

I've been using this daily for close to two months now and have not had the durability issues that others have reported. Those may be yet to come, but so far, no fraying. I bought this because I sometimes need to carry two 17" laptops, along with cables, power supplies, etc. It has enough room to do that, and enough compartments that the two can be separated, with the cables in the middle compartment. My previous bag was a courier bag that lasted 7 years but finally wore out. My issues with this bag vs. my last one are:
1. No external pockets for a collapsible umbrella, or water bottle, etc. I have had to put the umbrella in one of the side pockets, where it constantly rubs against my leg.
2. The clasps that hold the shoulder strap to the metal loops on the bag somehow manage to detach themselves. Like this morning. After getting off the train, I had gone about 50 feet with the bag over my shoulder, when one of the clasps suddenly popped off and the bag fell on the ground. WTF? This is not the first time it has happened, either. How did they manage to mis-engineer a basic clip? I thought this was a solved problem in product design.

I have looked for ages for a laptop briefcase and I thought I had found the perfect bag in this Samsonite Classic Business 3 Gusset. I've had it for a month and have hardly used it. The bag has great reviews, lots of space, organization, center storage for added laptop protection, ballistic nylon, and luggage attachment. It looks as good as any other black nylon bag and has metal hardware. Now the cons:
1. The shoulder strap is horrible. It is narrow and cuts into you when loaded (no photo).
2. The handles are already showing wear with minimal use and the stitching is starting to fail/pull around one attachment point. This is a front handle and the reason is that it is sown into a seam and the job seems to have been done poorly (see the attach photo). At least one other reviewer pointed out this flaw. It is an in-built failure point. The rolled vinyl handles themselves are minimal and are already starting to show wear. I believe the other negative reviews that the handles won't last.
3. Finally, perhaps not so important is that the bag is promoted as ballistic nylon, but it is not where the luggage attachment is (see attached photo). Some cheaper material has been used there.
May be I was unlucky with the handle. Check yours carefully when loaded to make sure it is sown in correctly and not pulling.

This is a great quality bag - no doubt about it. Very durable - I bought it over 2 years ago and it still is going strong (pun intended); I'm especially impressed with the zippers - I tend do overload the bag but none of the zippers broke so far. Time goes by, however, so I started thinking about having to buy another one in the near future. Went on to check the price and was unpleasantly surprised: I originally paid a bargain price of little over $22 but now it's available for over $53 (down from $72)! I realize that it's Samsonite and it's an exceptional quality but why tease your customers with great prices only to give them a sticker shock later? That's, by the way, my pet peeve on Amazon - in so many cases the prices of items I buy here fluctuate so much (always going up) that I can hardly buy the same product ever again; I would understand if the price went up a few dollars but oftentimes it's twice or three times more! This business practice doesn't win loyal customers at all - or maybe the companies hope that their customers like their products so much that they overlook the price.

I do like the bag but within 2 days the stitching on the shoulder strap started to come apart. So I asked Samsonite for a replacement strap. They insisted that I give them not only the model of the bag but all of the extra numbers found only on the tags that came with the bag. I did have the tags still since I only had it for a few days and I sent them all of the detailed information (as I recall I actually sent them scans of the tags as attachments). Considering how strict they were about specifying the exact model of the bag, I was greatly shocked when the replacement shoulder strap they sent was nothing like the one on the bag (not even close). I gave up and stitched the strap myself.

I really like the size of the bag -- it's big enough to hold a lot, but small enough to fit under the seat on a domestic airplane. But, I do not recommend purchasing this bag for a 17" laptop. After about 6 months of use, my bag is quite frayed (where the laptop zipper meets the bag material). It looks like it is only a matter of time until the fraying creates a hole.
I know someone else who has the same bag, and it has held up well being used for a netbook or slim MacBook. The multiple pockets are great for organizing your things. There's a place to put documents to keep them flat and side pockets for keys/phone/etc. This would be a 5 star review, but for the quality of the material/construction.

I didn't want to spend too much on a laptop bag that I can use for work. I have only had this bag for a week. So far, the bag feels very sturdy. The strap and the links seem strong enough. I am very particular about the strap's link and hook since my bag tends to be heavy. I can't go for a plastic link and hook. For the price, it is pretty good. It's not the type of bag you can stuff a lot of things in though. I can fit my 17" macbook pro snuggly into a sleeve, a small intuos tablet, the tablet's pen and stand, an external hard drive, a few pens, an envelope of documents, and a lot of other small things like USBs, cellphones, wallets, and wristlets. After stuffing all of that in the bag, I noticed a considerable bulge and it would go out of balance when placed down.

For the record, I did manage to get an HP Elitebook 8770W in the bag, with charger, plus a Toshiba Thrive with dock and charger, an iPod Classic 160Gb, a Samsung i930, six USB cables, four USB memory sticks, assorted adapters, two USB wall chargers, 150 pages of 8.5" x 11" paper, two pens, two pencils, an umbrella, 10' of CAT-6E cable, 40 business cards, a multitool, and a small notebook. I still had room for more junk. It generally carries over twenty pounds as you can see what I carried.
The strap is very good, probably the best feature and most important if you are carrying twenty pounds of nonsense around. All straps slip off your shoulder, it's just a matter of how resistant they are and how "repairable" they may be. From looking at the buckle configuration, I am confident that they will survive for more than the three years my last bag did; and I can already see how I can field-repair it until a more formidable replacement is available.
Handles are strong, padded, but for some reason manage to be in the way. You have many compartment options and the zippers will make noise as you walk. That may bug you, but metal zippers are not a defect, they are a desirable feature. If you need to silence them you already know how.
*** The front zipper tore away from its fabric around January 2014. It's a really weird failure, and one that I cannot repair myself without replacing the whole bag. Replacing the whole bag means driving out 30 miles to a repair store... no thanks. I'll have to live with it, which drops this down to three stars.

I bought this mid February 2013 and it fit my 15" wide laptop perfectly. It has plenty of storage and can even fit another laptop or tablet, without it being to tight. However, roughly 50 days after the purchase. One of the handles frayed off the bag and made the bag pretty worthless, unless I wanted to use just one handle to carry it. Anyways, I called Amazon, and they simply said their was nothing they could do since it was 30 days past the delivery date. Amazon asked me to call Samsonite to see what they could do. Samsonite gave me two options. I could pay to have it shipped to one of their repair centers, but would not guarantee free repair until the service tech could take a look at it. This would also take anywhere from 2-4 weeks. The other option was to drive 40 miles one way, to drop it off at a Samsonite store and they could send it to get repaired for free. This would also take 2-4 weeks. Realize I live in Milwaukee, why they don't have store around here beats me. I decided before I wasted time and money, I would take it to a local repair shop too see what they could do and cost. I found a repair shop just down the road from my work and I dropped it off on a Friday and it was ready Monday all for $12. I would have easily spent over $12 in gas or shipping on top of waiting a minimum of 2 weeks. This really is a good product, but when companies don't give the consumer reasonable options for warranty work. I could care less how much I like the product.

There is conflicting information in the reviews and Q&A about whether or not it can fit a 17 inch laptop, so that's why I'm writing this review. I ordered this specifically because I have two laptops, a 17 inch and a smaller one, and I didn't read in depth to see what people said about the fit. When it arrived, I was at first annoyed because my 17 inch wouldn't fit in the padded compartment. However, it does fit in the compartment right next to it, next to a padded side, and it's in the middle, so my 17 inch really is protected. I put my smaller laptop in the padded compartment. So it does fit a 17 inch, but it's not really sized for that exclusive purpose. But I'm keeping it, because it does suit my needs. And there is ample storage space. Also, while it's not leather, it seems well made, although I've only had it a few days. But if you have one laptop and it's 17 inch and you want it in the padded compartment, this is the not bag for you. Otherwise, it works.

Excellent for 2 years but then the zipper broke and the metal wore out significantly on the loops and hooks. Zipper fix was covered by warranty, but was told the worn out metal was "regular wear and tear" and I would have to pay for it if I wanted it replaced. Cost was more than 50% of the cost of the full bag so I didn't replace it. About 2 months later one of the hooks wore out where it's attached to the strap rendering the strap totally useless. For a brand name like Samsonite I expect better.

The sixth time I used it the strap came off and the bag almost went bouncing down the stars. Luckily I caught it. Not much longer it came off again. It's a design flaw in how the strap hooks to the bag. The bag itself seems to be well constructed with a good design and is larger than I thought it was going to be. It'll work fine if you replace the strap. I just carry it by the handle.

After less than two years of use, and a lot of that at home not using the bag, the loose strings and pulling connector have turned into a significant rip on one side of the bag. Additionally, the material on the handles has worn off considerably, with cracks forming as early as a couple months in. It was a fantastic bag for about a year, but now seams are pulling and tears are forming. The storage space is great and the materials feel sturdy but the stitching seems to be lacking and the handle material is poor.

My only concern with this is that, aside from some loose strings that were easily removed, one side of the should strap connectors seems to be pulling away more than the other. My family has bought samsonite forever and I intend to as well. This goes to work with me and has proven to be very sturdy with significant storage. No issues with zippers or seams, just one problem in one spot and I’m sure that is a one-off as my mother’s didn’t have an issue like this. I’ve been able to store a college math text book, full size notebook, 15” laptop, mouse, charger, phone cables, thumb drives, memory cards, and even misc. cold/flu supplies at one point and there was room for more

On the plus side of the ledger this bag is fairly light, easily and conveniently holds items I place in same.
On the negative side, no bag should fail in normal use within seven months of purchase. I selected this bag in large part because of the Samsonite name, intending it as a replacement for a similar bag by a competitor. The bag being replaced lasted the better part of a decade, used in similar fashion to the Samsonite bag being reviewed. Apparently due to the lack of reinforcement stitching or other support, the area where the shoulder strap attaches to the bag is tearing away from the bag, leaving an unsightly hole.
The craftsmanship and materials are subpar at best. This wasn't a cheap bag. It began to fail months ago, the tear getting rapidly worse in recent days.

I figured that the bulk of reviews in favor of this bag means that the unlucky few with unfavorable reviews just got duds. Unfortunately, I turned out to be one of those unlucky dud-receivers.
Almost exactly 60 days after using this bag daily it tore at the part where the strap connects to the bag. I don't think the bag was exactly overloaded. It's actually kind of hard to get more than one book in there with a laptop anyway. I was really pleased with the bag until it broke (and someone mentioned that it looked like their old clarinet case - that wasn't the look I was going for).
Pros:
Great number of pockets and slits for organization
Stands up on its own pretty well
Easy to wipe clean (inside and out)
Cons:
Front zipper pocket a little useless since it just eats up room in the front small compartment.
Gets a little misshapen/tipsy when fully loaded - I think because the base is rigid but the pockets have a little give.
Going through warranty procedure is frustratingly cumbersome. Samsonite website showed no places near me (I checked within 1000 miles of my address). But I'm sure that's just a bug that will eventually be fixed. The automated telephone place gave me one location that no longer exists. On top of all that, you have to pay to get it to the warranty location if there's no Samsonite store nearby. Since shipping would cost more than half the price of the bag, I gave up.
Gotta say, I'd always thought Samsonite meant quality; I was a bit disillusioned by this experience. Still, if you're going to be carrying next to nothing in it, it's not a bad bag.

The bag lasted me about 7 months of daily use; carrying my laptop and paperwork around. The very first week one of the zippers broke (the part you grab to zip and unzip came off). Since then it held up pretty well until the shoulder strap broke, i.e. the metal clasp that attaches to the bag itself. Guess Samsonite is no longer the quality it used to be (my dad had one of their briefcases that seemed to last forever) or maybe I have to spend more money on the bag second time around..you get what you pay for I guess..

It's definitely a great bag with many pockets, but there are a few issues:
1: It gets pretty heavy when you put a few books or a laptop in it. So, practically you will work out if you use the shoulder strap.
2: The shoulder strap get released automatically and the bag falls on. It can be dangerous if you have laptop inside the bag.
3: When you load it with some books, you have to learn how to load it otherwise it tends to get very unbalanced while using the shoulder strap.
5: MAIN: My handle strap broke less than 1 year and I had to pay to ship it to the customer service because they didn't believe me. I had to drive 30 miles to return it to a store and they didn't have this bag either.
Bottom line: Make sure that you don't use this bag for professional purpose such as loading it with books, laptop and etc.

I bought this item because it is a Samsonite , it is Amazon'z choise , it looked good on the photos and was advertized as business bag.
When it arrived I was realy disapointed, Compaired with my old buisiness bag it looks like a toy. The zippers are small and delicate ( with a daily use they will not last a year) plus the strap terminal does not have a rivet, it is just stiched to the bag. Also the bag does not have the rubber legs on its buttom.
On the attached photos the new Samsonite is on the right and the five year old bag I intended to replace on the left.
I had great experience with Samsonite products before and was under impression that buying a Samsonite garanties a durable and quality product.
The overal impression from this briefcase is that it is a generic "made in China" bag with a Samsonite logo attached to it.

Lots of storage. The inside has lots of cushion for protection of my laptop, however, the strap randomly unhooks sometimes when I'm picking up the bag, which has caused me to almost drop the bag. I would probably not recommend purchasing this bag due to the strap unhooking.

I struggle with only giving this one 2 or 3 stars. I love the design of the bag, but I've had numerous issues with the purchase. The zipper on the back pocket broke, rendering it unusable. Additionally, the bag is starting to rip on both sides where the shoulder strap attaches. I use this bag 5 days a week and travel a lot with it. Great design, durability is just not where it should be. I've just ordered a replacement after a year of use, hoping this one will last longer than the first. I'll definitely try not to carry too much as it clearly cannot handle the load.

This is my second try with this particular bag, and it has the same issue. The bag lasted me only 8 months! It seems to be defective as the seam on the side rips (see photos). I do use the bag on a daily basis commuting into NYC. However, I do not over stuff the bag. I tried contacting customer service at samsonite but I have yet to hear back in over two months.
The one benefit I will give the bag is the amount of space and pockets. Otherwise, I recommend looking for something else.

I purchased this product based on my satisfaction with other Samsonite luggage that I own. While initially happy with the product, which looks great and has ample storage room, I have been disappointed with the bag - specifically in two areas.
For someone looking to use this bag on a daily or frequent basis, the way the shoulder strap attachments are designed allows them to rub and push into the top corners of the bag. Unfortunately after only a few weeks of usage I found that they had actually created a rip in the top corner of the bag alongside the zipper, making the zipper difficult, if not impossible, to zip past that point.
I have also found that the bag will occasionally unstrap one end of the shoulder strap during normal use (walking), which results in the bag either falling to the ground or swinging out wildly before you grab it. Obviously as this bag is designed for laptops, there is major risk if it falls to the ground. I don't know what causes the bag to unhinge, though it may be the way the clasps are angled, allowing it to free itself.
Certainly the product's overall rating suggests that others have been happy with the item, however, my own experience has been significant;y less positive.

Very sturdy, elegant and stylish while being able to carry up to 17" laptop. Highly recommend this product. All stitching seems very well done so I am expecting a long life out of this item.

Zippers in both compartments came off the rails and the bag became useless. Did not expect such bad performance from a Samsonite!

Two stars because the bag has been nicking up my MacBook Pro. I’ve check the inside of the bag for debris, finding none, I can only assume that the bag construction/design is causing the nicks. I would add that I find it rather annoying that the bag’s handles do not present well. I find when I need to grab the handles, when the bag is on my shoulder, I have to search for the handles. I would rather have the handles “standing” so they are ready to be grabbed.

Lowered my review. Picked up the bag and the shoulder strap clip broke - with only a computer, cord, mouse in the bag. Bag fell on the floor, computer fell out onto concrete (my bad - always zip up the bag!). Avoid this bag.

Overall - the bag is large enough to fit everything I need, great for travel. The quality is not the greatest, one of the zippers in the inside pockets broke after using it for less than a month. For under $50, its a good deal but don't expect it to last too long.

The bag looked good on picture, but the shoulder strap broke within 3 days. I'm an international buyer so it's not worth shipping this back. Always had a good opinion of Samsonite so pretty disappointed. Space wise, the bag is wide enough for a 17' laptop and a couple of files, but this adds to the bulk. If you stuff it full, the bag's going to look pretty wide and less professional. Trade-off.

The pros are that it looks smart and seems to be well-made.
What killed it for me was threefold:
*The cellphone holder is too small for my Galaxy S5, and probably an S4
*The section for the phone, cards, pens, and other stuff only opens at the top, so you really can't see what's in the dark down there, especially if something falls to the bottom
*The case doesn't open to lie flat to make airport security faster and easier with a laptop
I also noted that the handles don't connect together in some way, you have to grab both of them them carefully. And the pocket that's supposed to go over a roll-around handle is suitable only for paper items that you don't care about wrinkling or creasing; it won't fit standard-sized documents.
If these aren't issues for you, you may like it.

It is important to read reviews a few years after the purchase. This item looked nice. But one year into the life of the product, the imitation leather handle began to crack. Today it is a complete mess, many cracks. It feels terrible to hold.

My husband had a briefcase similar to this one for over 18 years and I finally bought him this briefcase bag for Christmas. He loved it and all the filing compartments, but now after 6 months the seams are coming apart. I will be refunded partially and must pay to ship it back as I understand what the refund policy. I am sorry that this is not well made because the design is great.

The zippers are of bad quality. The teeth are plastic and skip - looks like they will not last. Badly designed. The canvas on the zippers is off extremely low quality, I can already see it separating. I'll try to take a picture of what I mean. Very dissatisfied for what I paid for this... thinking of returning if possible. Samsonite quality NOT THERE.
The quality is so bad, so bad that I do not think this zipper are incredibly bad quality. You'll see when you get the product back. AND I own another Samsonite bad -- this one a roller (that one does not have this issue). Another laptop bag CASE LOGIC I've had for years and it doesn't have this zippers issue.

I purchased this item at the end of August 2017, and it is now early November 2018. The actual design of the item is nice, but there seems to be a quality issue because about a week ago one of the metal clasps on the side where you attach the shoulder strap just snapped, which means I got a little over a year of life out of the case before it became unusable. I tried contacting Samsonite about the issue using their form on the customer service website (as this should be covered under warranty) but they never so much as responded. If you are okay with getting an item that may only last about a year, this is okay, but I think this product should have been built to last at least two or three. It's a disappointment, and I can't recommend it for this reason.

DO NOT BUY. Shoddy craftsmanship. I am purchasing a Wegner to replace this.
I liked this product, however, at about a year and a half in the zipper to the main compartment is broken. Samsonite is a major name brand and I expected quality that would last.
I spent over an hour on the phone with Samsonite. At first, I was told I needed to spend $30 (more than half the cost of the bag) to ship the bag to their authorized repair location. If the repair was deemed a defect, then they would fix or replace the bag. Toward the end of the conversation, the customer service rep agreed to email me a shipping label. He never did.

The case itself is great, but this morning, one month and one week after receiving this (just outside the return window!) the zippers started detaching from the teeth and coming apart from the case. Attempting to reattach the zipper to the teeth results in bent teeth, since they are plastic and not metal, and also resulted in the actual zipper and teeth themselves coming more detached from the case (pictures attached were taken right when problems started this morning). Would love to exchange for a new one as I can only hope this is a one-time error, but since that's apparently not possible I'll just leave this as a warning to others, be careful using the zippers as intended because they may be faulty!

Although the price on this item is great and I received it expeditiously, the stitching between two of the compartments came apart after only two days of use. With the bag being this inexpensive, yet with the cost of repair being incredibly high, it simply doesn't make sense to get it repaired. It would seem Samsonite has lowered their prices (and their quality) since if you break it, you can just buy a new one. Very disappointed considering I've used other Samsonite products in the past and have written nothing but rave reviews about them. This one was a real shocker. And of course, it was past the return time frame so I could not return it either. Again, disappointing.

Bag is 18 month used and it is breaking down in multiple places. The closest repair center where I can bring my bag in for repair is 60 miles away even though I leave in a large metropolitan area. Save your self the trouble and do not buy this bag.

The bag starting tearing apart after 2 months of usage. Amazon policy says you can return it only within a month, so I got stuck with a damaged bag. This is probably not really a Samsonite product. Really disappointing. Throwing $40 down the drain.

I’m so disappointed! Bought this for husband knowing that this brands quality is always good, but in two(!) weeks of light use seams became fringed like you can see on the photo. Bag was carried on shoulder or laying on the lap when he was sitting in the bus. Even cotton messenger bag would have longer life. Want to return it!
