I have only been using the attache for about a month now, but I love it. I'm a Detective and I use it every day. I get compliments about the case often. I would agree with other reviews that the leather might be a little cheap. I say that because the leather is very easily scratched, as I figured out on the first day. However, if you take care of it, and don't just throw it around, it looks like it will last. I used a conditioner/protector on mine the day I got it, after I slightly scratched it, which I would suggest doing because it will prolong the life of the case and prevent it from cracking and scratching as easily.
You can't beat it for the price! I think it looks much more elegant than the other brief cases in the same price range. I didn't want tacky gold or bronze hardware so this case was perfect. I'm even thinking about buying a second one.

I bought one of these in December 2012 and have been using it every day to carry my stuff from home to work. I usually stuff it with papers, a few books, pens and erasers and such. It has held up very well considering I am extremely rough with it. One latch broke about six months ago and I brought it to a Samsonite dealer who replaced it for free, as it was sill under the three year warranty. The leather on the handle is just now starting to fray a bit, and the leather on the bottom corners are starting to show some wear, but for $65, and considering how rough I am with it, I have to say I think it is very well made. I've let my kids know they can buy me another one for my birthday next January, by which time I can probably use a new one.

I'm surprised at the number of negative reviews I see for this briefcase. At $59 it's nicer and better quality than the $179 briefcase I had for years that finally wore out.
I've been using this for a couple months now and everything about it seems way higher quality than what I expected for a sub-$100 case. The hardware is sturdy, the outside is well-seamed and soft, and it's a very nice looking case. Nothing about it feels cheap at all to me, and it looks like it would be a $200 briefcase easily.

A great briefcase, I've owned two and enjoyed both. Well. the first I enjoyed for years (about 8 0r 10), the second from amazon market didn't last too long so i cant comment on its durability. Be careful, its sharp looking, and not gaudy because the buckles are dark metal making it classy not gaudy like gold buckles. So it wasn't long before my newest one grew legs with my laptop in it. Bummer. Also, mine both appeared to be genuine Samsung, in case some may have that concern.

Love the briefcase. I carry mine to court with me everyday. Has enough room for my client files, iPad, calendar, padfolio, and a 3 inch thick codebook. The expandable pouches in the top part and the expandable bottom section are exactly what I needed. The downsides are that the pen slots are extremely tight and small, making it hard to put my favorite pens (Pilot G2s) into the slots and the finish ages very quickly. I should have suspected that this case is 'substantial' when I saw that it weighed seven pounds. And that's when it's empty! If you don't mind lugging it around, it's a nice case that does the job.
This is an "old school" briefcase. Today, most people seem to opt for slim, sleek portfolios. However I don't drive, so must carry my office with me, making a heftier case more practical. I think that overall, this Samsonite will fill the bill.

Durable for a while, but it is not stitched at the bottom. It looks stitched but it's glued. I like the size and multiple compartments etc. I carry a lot of materials in mine, job files and misc. materials but it only lasts 9 months to a year before it falls apart, or the hinges come apart. I just keep buying it over again though because its the only one that has the volume and compartments I need. If they would incorporate stronger hinges and strong stitching it would be great. This same style is made by different manufactures, even Samsonite, and they all are made cheaper. This style used to last me 3 to 5 years but now even the Samsonite which I bought only lasted 9 months before it fell apart.

So I purchased this case in November of 2015. Seemed like a great buy. When I received it I was pleasantly surprised. For the money it appeared to be well put together, good space and pockets, and it did not look cheap. No problems with it until today, May 1st 2017.
Apparently the exterior stitching is only cosmetic. Today was one of the few times I left this case on the back seat of my car. Even with rear tinted windows it probably got a little hot. Mind you, this is not the peak summer months. To my dismay, I found that the lid edges/ corners are only GLUED together. I guess that is what they meant in the description as "bonded". The top piece of material was separating from the side piece exposing the inner particle board. Had it been actually stitched like my previous case was it would never have separated.
I purchased this because of the Samsonite brand name. I was aware that at the purchased price it was not the top of the line. I've owned several Samsonite cases as well as luggage. However, this one seems to adhere to the present day cheap Chinese knockoffs that a lot of once quality manufactured items have fallen prey to. Too bad.
The moral to this story is; it's a nice case for the money as long as it is not exposed to moderate to high temperatures.

Update 11/12/2015: Review changed from five stars down to two stars. Item is basically falling apart. Outside leather panels that I thought were sewn in are actually just glue on and the glue is failing and these panels are beginning to fall off around what would be the bottom of the case as it is sitting down on it's floor pegs. Same issues inside the case as well, panels separating or beginning to separate as well as one of the two latches to close the case is also sideways now and will likely break off completely within a few days. It was a good case to begin with but after being used five days a week it does not hold up (and this is under normal use, nothing severe that would cause early failure of any one component).

After putting this briefcase to work for 6 weeks the bottom seam split. Although this was for a busy contractor who is hard on things, his last briefcase lasted over a year. We didn't have it overfull or stuffed by any measure, and I know that because I'm his assistant who keeps it cleaned out and supplied with the documents he needs.
It is a very handsome looking briefcase, It may be better as a light duty briefcase without using the expandable feature. We have always used Samsonite products and have always been happy with them. This is the first time we've been disappointed with one of their products, I have to assume we received an older one or a flawed one.

I bought a used one with minor damage to the exterior for half price because screw buying this cheap piece of crap for almost $100.
The main thing I noticed was how easily it could fall apart. Parts that weren’t scuffed or ripped could be almost pulled completely off with little effort. Half the case feels like it was poorly glued onto the wood inside, half the leather siding feels like it could rip if it bumped into anything.

The photographic image on the box looks better than the actual product inside that I received. I unwrapped it, brand new, from the protective plastic covering after unboxing it. Already there was a large whiteish oval-shaped scuff mark on the outside, like someone wiped it in a circular motion before it was wrapped in plastic and then boxed up. And the expandable 4-file organizer was installed slightly askew. The left side is slightly higher than the right side of the 4-file organizer. If you look at the picture on the box, the 4-file organizer is installed straight, not askew. Other than those two problems, it's fine. I love the smell of the leather. I guess I can try using some black leather shoe polish to cover up the whiteish scuff mark on the outside. They really need to work on their quality control. I see on the tiny tag enclosed that it's made in China.

It's nice for the price, at least at first. I like the interior pocket layout especially. Which is why I've bought this 3 times so far. The problem comes a few months in as the glue used to keep the faux leather seams together is poor and comes apart way too easily. If only this were stitch seamed instead of glued it'd be an unqualified winner. As is it's passable if you realize you'll need to super glue the seams yourself as they come apart.

I have to break the lock and get my stuff out ! And if you look closer, the product itself is like really poor quality! Like the linear is open , the seal is cane off , you can break it with your hand ! We contact the support , and at first they said they will return it ! And one second later , another support said they don’t want to return and they just don’t care ! Product had been in use for 5 weeks and the rivet holding the front latch in place fell out. (1 week after return window) Tried to contact samsonite 3x and was put on auto hold and then disconnected. Now 2 weeks later I noticed all the rivets holding the latches are compromised. Contacted service centers and none are near us so to service it under warranty requires $40+ shipping on our part even being under warranty. Extremely disappointed in this product and lack of integrity of the company. I am doubtful I will ever purchasing a Samsonite product again if this is their idea of customer service and warranty policies.

My husband has had a Samsonite Leather Attache for 25 years and loves it.The replacement I found looks exactly like it, but we are now on our third attache - the problem is with the latches. The first one - the right lock would not work. The next two - the latches are on crocked and will not flip all the way up. Looks like they could break off. My delimina - do I order another - because my husband loves the model - or do I try and find one someplace else where we can look at it - or just try something different?

I received this briefcase just as you see it, with a note attached saying the lock didn't work. And it was correct, 2 of the wheels wouldn't spin. Even if it had worked, I was not at all impressed with the case. The lid section slid around over the opposite side, indicating the hinges or plate they're mounted to, are garbage. Save your money.

I purchased this attaché for my dad as a gift in 2018. Already, less than two years into use the latches have broken.
I would not recommend this product if you plan to use it regularly for any length of time.
